If the web site has its own IP (or it is the default site on that server) you can point any domain at it to make it appear that the content from that site lives on your domain.

I could register wesuckandfuckhamsters.com today and point it to GFY... but it's not my content, is it?

Before condemning MC, you should first make sure that the owner of that refid and the owner of the domain are the same person.
