Sounds like you're willing to accept this guy's words at face value, but not look further into things when they're questioned.
Look at this way: Worst case scenario, you find out it's not legit and you take it down. Chances are you'll find out it's legit and you can use it, but it's always better to be safe than sorry, right?
Imagine to potential lawsuits if it's not legit and someone stumbles across it, or someone with a vendetta for you sends the estate a little letter.
