What an age we live in.........the movie is the second largest grossing movie money-wise of all time, not even out of the theatre yet, and ppl are already peddling the bootleg DVD, trying to capitalize on this, ON A PUBLIC BOARD.

The summer LOTR DVDs are affectionately known as "sucker bait." For a few bucks more, you can get the 4 disk, expanded director's version with all the goodies a few months later. Those are the only ones worth getting.

Given the spammers, scammers, and stolen/warez software peddled by criminals, why not stolen DVD's on GFY?

Why not wait till May and buy a legit, quality version, rather than supporting criminals and pirates.

Often the pirated versions are burned to a DVD-4 compared to the REAL movies which are DVD-9 ,and are much more highly compressed, and thus poorer quality than the original.

Pretty fucking pathetic what people will resort to on GFY to make a buck....

On this one, I'm with you Ronbotx...........I'm waiting until May as I want the highest quality for such an outstanding flick........but I also have to ask us all, including myself, the MP3 question.......and lets not anyone claim innocence over that one.

Well, I see the mp3 thing as a much smaller personal theft. Sure it's still theft, but for the vast majority it goes nowhere beyond the personal collection. Now, if you're out selling as many burned CDs to the public as possible for profit, similar to above, that's a different issue..

50% of the mp3s I download are my favorite tracks off of CDs I actually own.
The other 50% are tracks from CDs Im contemplating buying, and most of the time I DO up buying....
...but how many people would actually go out and buy the 4 disc set when its released, after buying this one?

edit: and with mp3s, no single individual is profitting directly from the sale of the songs in question.
