IE does not run on my laptop, so I am stuck with netscape, its alright. I like IE except when it will not work right.

I've been using IE forever...been hearing a lot of good things about Mozilla, might soon be time to try it out.

I use Mozilla's Thunderbird email client and really like that.

Its a new shell for Internet Explorer.
                      It got a popup-stopper and tabbed-browsing.
Its great, you'll love it ;)

It was Netscape back in the days, now for as long as I can remember, it's been Internet Explorer.

Firefox kicks all sorts of ass, I about:blank my homepage, open up firefox and Ctrl+Click all my favourite buttons and there they all are in their own tabs. Lovely stuff.

I have to wonder what version of Windows you're using? MS stopped shipping Windows with a JVM in XP. So IE no longer supports java out of the box either.

Edit: oh and I have to agree with Mozilla Firefox. Though version 0.8 has issues with the new download manager. Freezes up the whole browser for a couple seconds whenever a download starts or finishes... including images. It's really annoying.

Havent tried the new firefox, but did try the previous firebird and quickly uninstalled it. For one thing, most if not all of the developers seem to be former netscape users/worshipers and are stuck in that mentality. Not that i have any love for micro$oft, but netscape just sucked in too many ways and they just cant shake doing many things in the same ways. For example, they insist upon using the fucked up html type of bookmarks and they cant figure out how to make them practical to use. Unless they have very recently changed something, they provide no way to synchronize bookmarks and IE favorites. If you are any kind of webmaster, then you still need to use IE sometimes whether you like it or not. And if you are going to use different browsers you need to be able to synch favorites, which they (evidently) see no need to do. That alone made me uninstall it.
Besides, MYIE2 has as many or more features and still uses the IE engine, which despite its shortcomings, almost the entire web has been designed for. Firebird/fox has what, one percent of users? If their developers are too close minded to see the necessity of being compatible with the browser that over 90% of surfers use, well, fuck em.

If their developers are too close minded to see the necessity of being compatible with the browser that over 90% of surfers use, well, fuck em.

myie2 looks somewhat decent, i might try that out.

This may or may not mean anything to you .. but the gecko rendering engine (what Mozilla and Firefox use for rendering) adheres strictly to W3C standards... so if you learn to code using standard html/css you'll have no problems.

As a web developer I find it much easier to develop with Firefox and then test in IE and Opera. I know I'm writing standard code that should render in any standards compliant web browser .. and then I can use style sheets to hack out what I need for IE / Opera quirks... which is rare but it's nice. And it's what xhtml + css were designed for.

And as a firefox user the only problems I have EVER enountered with web sites not rendering properly are those that use ActiveX.. and I keep ActiveX disabled in IE anyway. Call me paranoid but there's too much auto downloading / installing virus / dialer crap out there. I don't miss pop-ups or ActiveX shit in the least.

FireFox is by far the best browser I have used. I never thought that I would stop using IE because I was just so used to it, but then I installed FireFox and loved it almost straight from the get go.

Plus as stated before developing for FireFox you know that your code will look right everywhere else, no more need to redesign your website 15 times because you suddenly realized it looks like shit in any other browser besides IE.

                                                              Take Luck!

i prefer opera. it does not crash very often and if it does you can resume where it crashed. what i love most is that it´s ultra fast, IE is so damn slow.

if you don´t like opera i would also recommend the avant browser!
