    Why spend money on a domain?

    Why buy domains specific to something that's a flash in the pan, or even something that might stick around...

    example, Paris Hilton... top Google searches for "Paris Hilton Sex Tape" show only 1 domain name specific to Paris Hilton. How many domains and deriviations of the her name were purchased? The top searches are sites established.

    How many of you rush off to buy any domain name that might get some action? Is it worth it? Are you happy?

                  maybe not rush off. but if there is some sort of drama, type-in's are the best

                  a complete idiot with no net knowledge but with credit card would type in
                  parishiltonsextape.com before looking for it on google.

                  my opinion...

                  same reasoning as to why sex.com is still in biz.

                          i have really cut back on domain purchases.. before i would buy one because i would have an idea.. never get around then im stuck with a domain i have no use for.. i made the same mistake just 2 days ago with a domain and some misscommunication.. now im stuck with it again.. and im realistic not all domains can be sold for 5k

                              true... but most folks that buy up those domains are buying as many variations on the theme they can come up with, witch ain't cheap

                                  Exactly. I know a guy that does this quite a bit and is very good at it. He makes very good money from just these kinds of idiots. This sort of gig isn't for everyone though, it takes some practice and you end up with a lot of shitty domains until you get the hang of it.
