Is it possible to get a serious answer on GFY? (re. reality sites)

    Hi,

I'm thinking about having a few reality sites produced but honestly I don't know if it's worth it. I think it might help conversions on the front end but not too sure about retention.. can anyone offer some opinions on the actual retention numbers? (i.e. how many months average retention per customer who converts from trial to monthly and what is the average trial to month conversion %)?

Of course it probably depends on the site, etc but I was just trying to get a few opinions/estimates of what to expect, if anyone on GFY offers serious opinions anymore..

    Talk to Brad Shaw...

Seriously... have you promoted reality sites in the past? How did they do for you..? (pps & rs) .... Im sure you noticed that only a few % of reality sites.. the better ones... will actually convert & retain... the others.. the majority ... total crap... Now... can you come up with a good original reality site? Thats the hardest part...

retention has everything to do with membership price, content quality, and frequency of updates.

if it's a clean personable member area with frequent quality updates you will retain, build a loyal fanbase, and get word of mouth. word of mouth spread at the office water cooler is the best converting traffic one can get, hehe.

i don't have enough experience with the reality style niche you are referring too to be of much help but i do have a lot of paysite experience. i would be interested to see the reality niche ratio #'s too. anyone?

Most reality sites are good for getting an initial sign-up out of curiosity, but don't retain.

A site like College Fuck Fest retains because that stuff is addictive.

So they're no different than a regular cookie cutter site, except more hassle and content costs, as far as the backend/retention goes? That's kind of what I suspected...

I'm sure they convert a lot better on the front end though so that naturally means more traffic. You could offer no trial/only a monthly price and people would still join because they really want to see the site.

I'm sure Brad Shaw is going to say they're the best thing ever.. he charges like $50k/each.

As far as the ones I've promoted in the past.. they have converted better on the front end but had pretty much standard retention numbers. But you never can tell, which is why I asked for the opinions of others.

You never got in touch with me yesterday as far as shooting content.

As far as retention I don't know, but I am sure it depends on the site.

I was busy yesterday and am still researching it fully before waisting a lot of money.. I will get in touch with you if I decide to do it, but so far it seems like a waste. My cam site makes much more and probably converts just as well... still tossing the idea around. I apologize for not getting back with you, though.

No... im talking about those he made for his program... Not doing that well from what I've heard...

Hey If they converted that well.. he would keep those sites he sells, for himself... If hes making $25,000 profits per site (turnkey) sold... that tells you a bit about the profits he thinks he can make (or cannot make lol) with those sites being a part of his program...

                      good conversion, average retention....

Good conversion? Depends of what your idea of good conversion is... to me good conversion.. is if you pay for advertising and you make profit out of it... anything less is crap as far as im concern... To me, most reality sites have crappy conversions... but big programs continue to produce them... My guess is if you have a huge affiliate base... you can make good profit even with a generic, non original reality site... if you dont have a huge affiliate base... ... ask Brad...

As for as conversion... couldnt know... tried mostly pps...

Most reality sites really sucked for me ... But I made very good money with BangBus . If you have a good, new concept with a lot of money to produce the content and update the site almost daily with new stuff, then you can make big money . But yet you have to get a lot of people promote it for you in order to make money.

Reality sites don't convert or retain better than any other site you put an extra effort into.

If you pick a normal niche, like Teens, hunt down video content with super hot sexy teen girls, then build a tour to show all the girls and how hot they are and play that niche. You will see the converts just as good as any reality site, this goes for just about any super niche.

The key isn't reality sites, it's video.

Retention = content = lots of updates. No other formula is needed.

Surfers want to join to see what it's all about. Once they get their rocks off, they move on to something else. I'd have to agree, average to below average retention..

I think creativity also plays a part. Anyone can go out there and make a Bang Bus knock off. But if you've got a really creative reality idea, it'll do a lot better.

Basically, try and do something that hasn't been done before, or that hasn't been totally played out and do it bigger and better.

just out of curiosity, is it brads 50k reality content pack (10scenes, video editing, design of site)expensive or not?
How much could be average prices for that?

Basically, try and do something that hasn't been done before, or that hasn't been totally played out and do it bigger and better.
yeah, I want to see a Bang Hearse where a guy in a bad vampire costume drives around picking up gothic girls and instead of dropping them off at the cemetary after he's done, he drops them off at a cheerleader camp...

Reality sites that have trials have not really rebilled any longer for me then normal websites.Even if they like the site, they will cancel the trial and signup again later, when there are more updates. Your best bet for reality sites is to stick to monthly membership with no trials
