TOKYO - Someday your nose could get a workout while your fingers click the mouse. Japan's top telecommunications company NTT is adding smell to the sights and sounds of the Internet.
A test version of the new technology is on display at a Tokyo electronics store. A broadband connection controls a machine that has 36 scents, blends of natural oils, such as eucalyptus, sandalwood and basil.
But cyber sniffing doesn't come cheap. The demonstration model cost nearly $10,000. NTT officials say they're studying the market potential for a home version.
