They were in a quasi-public setting (hotel hallway), with no expectation of privacy (there were other people in the hallway), which is the general legal standard of recording devices in the US. And by acting belligerently, there's a rationale for recording the incident for legal purposes. If I understood what happened correctly, the woman stomped over about 40 feet to threaten the guys to get out of her face (that made sense), then saw the camera, then backed off. I'm not saying that acted properly, but as I'm working on something, it occurred to me that I know a lot of people that would have beat you down WITH that camera for a lot less.
Not picking sides, since I dont any of you - and I always like to see someone eat a fist.
Laws may be different in Canada, but in the US, that sort of filming is permitted. A person may not like it, but if you're in public, you can be filmed. Broadcasting it on the internet, while I think that's defensible too in this instance, is a whole different set of issues, but just filming wouldn't be an issue legally.
As far as deserving a beat-down for it, it seems like they may have begun filming after the confrontation had already begun, so it wasn't what caused the confrontation, it just may have exacerbated it.Comment
