    Why do some webmasters remove other webmasters' ref codes when signing up w/sponsors?

          Well, that's different. There's some self gain in shaving others, but there's no gain in removing ref links..

              No, but it leads to the same thing... taking money out of the other person's pocket.

                                              a) They're paranoid.
                                              b) They really doesn't like your site.
