No, but I'm familiar with it and I actually already compared the speed of your web site with other servers in the same building on the same connection.

AdultWire, you could use compression and other techniques to allow you to send more data in a smaller amount of time but the maximum speed of the actual pipe will not change and as you said, you need to have the equipment or software at both ends.

Yes, you can improve the efficiency of an "inifficient pipe" but "pimpshost" is implying they have been able to get faster speeds using cogent than anyone else using cogent, even faster than using Qwest and AT&T (obviously, one assumes that he is talking about properly configured Qwest and AT&T connections).

or maybe by "we are faster than ever!" and "we added some equipment and did some nifty networking to get faster throughput..." he just means that they had inefficient configurations before and have improved them, NOI.
