                                                                                                        That is what is scary about this whole thing, the law starts off with good intentions but in the end it is a vehicle for lawyers to get paid. And eventually the abuse will result in a case like above.

It simply affords rights to an unborn child. The very first thing i thought about when i read the title was "What effect will this have on abortion laws?"

                                                                                                                                                        Do a little bit of reading, and you quickly realise that this has nothing at all to do with abortion.

                                                                                                                                                        If you consider being able to beat a woman and kill her unborn child and not be held accountable for the death of that fetus, a civil right, then you have a very strange idea about what civil liberties are.

                                                                                                                                                        Although, it won't surprise me one bit if there are plenty of lobbyists that will attempt to expand the law to include abortion. It won't happen, though.

With the clause excluding legal abortions, it should be a no-brainer for folks on both sides of the fence.
