I read an article about China a year or so ago. It said it would happen over there but it would take time in years, not months. I read an interesting article about China the other day. The reporter had been one of the BBC's chinese correpondents over there for a good few years. He called it the longest plan ever conceived by a government. Very heavily dependant on not upsetting the US (hence their low key objections to Iraq etc.) . He reckoned it's been going on for decades silently, and will only take another ten years or so before China is a true superpower, economically and militarily.
