I'm debating hitting the sack early, but this is probably something I'll regret in the morning. I love drama as it unfolds, I don't like reading about it in the drama obits

that's why I keep a laptop in my bedroom. Even though I rarely participate actively in drama threads, I do enjoy them as an occasional late night read in bed.

I'd have to fight my wife tooth and nail for use of the laptop, she's a vicious one too

No shit? I must have missed that. It seems that I somehow overlook most of te drama around here.
Personally, I applaud his efforts. It's nice to see somebody else around her show the dumb fucks that you can?t screw with somebody just because you think you are safe behind a computer.
"Comicbook artist Kaare Andrews, most recently known for his work on Iron Man and Spider-Man, has been awarded by the state of North Carolina a five-figure sum judgment from a lawsuit against comicbook company London Night Studios and its founder Everette Hartsoe.
Everette Hartsoe is most widely recognized in the comicbook world for his character Razor and her place in the ?bad girl? world of comics. Hartsoe has recently filed for bankruptcy and left the comics world to pursue a career as a screenwriter/actor/director/producer in the world of softcore porn, working on such movies as ?Vampire Call Girls? and ?Bonnie And Claudine?. He has also bleached his hair blond and begun selling CDs as self-proclaimed rap artist, ?Eklipz?. Make sure to look out for his autobiography which is, according to his website, ?being written as we speak?.
In 1998 Hartsoe approached Kaare Andrews to create a 4 issue creator owned mini-series for his company London Night Studios. ?At the time I hadn?t broken into comics yet and this was the call I had been waiting for. It was very exciting?, recalls Kaare Andrews. ?I was promised toys and model kits, animation possibilities? you name it, all based on the new book I would do. And of course being newly in love I was basing the series on my girlfriend. It was like a dream. But like all dreams, I guess you have to wake up at some point, all crusty eyed and looking for the snooze button.?
When the work was done Hartsoe didn?t want Andrews to send the original art over, a normal practice in comics. All he wanted was reduced photocopies. A few days later, Andrews called up London Night Studios and was told ?this isn?t going to work?. ?I was numb. I had put in countless hours writing and drawing the thing, I was about to hand in my notice for my normal job, I had already told all my friends and family about the book, my girlfriend?s friends and family too, I had been showing Everette every step I made while working on the book? I didn?t understand it.? Kaare Andrews went back to work the next day, his ?resignation notice? left at home and his drawing supplies put away. ?It was like getting dumped by your first girlfriend the day of your Prom.?
A year later, the story Andrews created appeared in a London Night comicbook with a pornographic photo-cover called ?Razor?s Edge?. They hadn?t paid Andrews for his story, notified him they were going to use it, credited him for the story or indicated his copyright of the Battle Girl story. Andrews called up London Night. ?Everette tried explaining that I should be happy the story showed up at all and that he would be doing me a favor by paying me less than a quarter of what was in our contract. I couldn?t believe it. This guy was insane.? Kaare Andrews found representation through attorney David Hood. Everette Hartsoe declared bankruptcy (avoiding being sued personally), closed down London Night, and slid away into the shadows. The case was tried in Everette?s absence and damages were tripled plus costs because London Night was found to be practicing ?unfair trade practices?.
?Thanks to David Hood, I feel great. Since this has happened a few people have shared similar experiences about Everette. The difference is they never did anything. But this is my career. This is my life. I?m not going to bend over and let some wanna-be Larry Flint rape my work. I will guarantee you that London Night Studios is dead. I destroyed it. I feel like the guy who invented Oxy Pads.? Kaare Andrews latest work can be seen on the covers of Peter Parker: Spider-Man and the interiors of Gen:13. Take a peek at www.kaareandrews.com
