Hurry Up And Wait!!
Have you ever been to a drive thru joint and the person taking the order is slow as hell and there are 2 or 3 cars in front of you and just abort and find somewhere else to eat. Surfers do the same thing when they reach a site that takes forever to load. Broadband Internet service is becoming available to more homes everyday, but there are still many people out there using 56k dial-up connections.
Its important when designing websites, tgp galleries, tours you take into consideration the amount of time it takes for a surfer on 56k to load the page. I remember years ago when I was surfing porn on a 56k connection if I hit a site that was slow I?d close the window and move on to something else because it was taking to long to load. When that surfer leaves a potential sale may have been lost. and they probably will not be book marking your site.
Another thing that can slow your sites down is having a host that does not have enough resources to support the sites that they are hosting. When I was playing the virtual hosting game I was using a hosting company that had great prices, I loaded my sites up and got down to business. I started getting rejected by major TGP sites for the following reason "Page loads too slowly". So I was needless to say I was with that host for about 2 days.
I?ve seen numerous tgp submissions where the thumb sizes are the true size of the image to be displayed; a thumb with a size of 60k takes as long to load as the full sized image. Which causes the gallery to load slowly as hell, the surfer my bounce off to another gallery and it?s a waste of bandwidth. Optimizing images can reduce that 60k image down to a thumb less that 10% of the original size.
When you?re designing your html keep and eye on your load times, and don't think that just because your shit is pretty they will wait. The game is very simple they want porn and we want loot.
Peace & Make That Loot!!!!!!!!!!
