    I've Had It With Wannabe Intellectual Poseurs!

    I really find people who grasp onto new words, buzzwords that sound 'smart', and then beat them into the ground using them over and over pathetic.

    The big buzzword I've noticed these pompous pointy head wannabe's using lately and no more than in the last couple days since the big basketball brawl in Detroit - DISCONNECT as a NOUN. Heard it a hundred times during the US Presidential election too.

    'What we can draw from these results is that there has been a disconnect of Middle America with the Democratic Party'

    'There has been a disconnect between the American sports fan and today's multi million dollar professional athletes. Last night's violence in Detroit speaks to that disconnect.'

    Well go disconnect yourself!

              man it's everywhere - tv talk shows, radio, newspapers - now the sports guys are all over it.

              if u watch/listen to alot of media you will soon notice its use. yes i know it can be used as a noun, it's just become in vogue lately though with the mass media - i have seen/heard it used before by academics - now it's in the hands of the mediots and they will bludgeon us over the head with it to prove they are erudite and simply not pea brains behind a microphone.

                                      i think they do it just to make themselves feel important or "on the cutting edge" like they're inventing their own special tech talk or something.

                                                  yeah, 'closure' was one of those words that got bludgeoned to death that started out as jargon popular with pschologists and shrinks, then made its way to the masses when the media whore type pop psychologists started using it on the TV talk shows like Oprah. Until it reached the point where you had some fat toothless hillbilly on the stage of the Jerry Springer Show blubbering 'I jes' wants some closure with my daddy'
