50 review sites...

On reading some of the reviews and then looking at the sites I think Mantas and his reviewers should be a little harsher with the sites.

For instance, one review sent me to pop up hell, without warning. Some of the sites reviewed were "soft core" but to me the girls looked bored and detatched.

Some of the "High Quality images" I saw were not, they were just average images.

The overall impression I had was they were looking to say something nice, even with a site (thet in my opinion) did not deserve it.

Building the trust of the surfer is paramount for a site like this and being honest with the site review works in two ways. It tells the surfer what to expect and the site owner how to improve.

Over all I would definitely use this site as a guide to where to find my next site to belong to. But it could do a little better.

One of the things I did like was in the review they give an impression of the "Porno" value of a site. A guy spending $30 a month wants to jerk off and he does this to content that gets his dick hard. In the review I got an impression of what to expect.

Unfortunately they do not rate it in the side bar ratings, but then I've yet to find one review site that does. And in my opinion not commenting on this is like reviewing a film and not talking about the acting or story line or a restaurant and not telling us what the food tasted like.

i agree that we could be harsher... and if you look at the lower rated sites, in many cases we say it as it is: don't subscribe, go elsewhere. but we dont claim to be the complete guide to online porn. rather, we try to select whats out there that stands above the average. there aren't many sites that are extremely popular but not worth the money. i don't see a point in reviewing a bunch of shitty sites that few surfers even heard of only to say they're not worth joining.

besides, our surfers can leave their comments on any review and as negative as they get, i never censor them. if anybody thinks the review wasn't fair or accurate, they can speak out. i think this balances out in cases where there was a stronger reviewer bias.

I've been running a review site for about 4 months and I'd say the opposite is true: Building the site, maintaining, optimizing for SEs and promotion is the grunt work. Getting listed well on Google, etc. hasn't been too hard (so far) but it depends on the keywords.

Review sites like RR and my own rank well for site-specific keywords (i.e. if someone searches for a site by it's name or for info e.g. "[site name] review"), but generic terms ("live sex", e.g.) are yes, hard, as they are for anyone!!

Anyway, the article was good and helped give me a little motivation to keep at it. I have also been curious how some of my "competitors" were doing! Lastly, it's good to see someone offer insight and advice to his peers.
