If you don't have a switch turning off the chip, one day you might be surprised that you can't get on Xbox Live. That's why I've had my Xbox altered only by extra BIOS chip and BIOS switcher. Now when I want to play original games (including Xbox Live enabled ones), I switch the original BIOS on and when I just want to have some fun with emulators, I use the altered BIOS.
