I was kinda skeptical about this but read the whole thing anyways. I suggest you do too.

Once you're done reading go watch The Road Warrior with Mel Gibson to put things into the proper perspective.

Get yourself a moped or a scooter before it costs as much as a Lambo.

I'd rather not read stuff like that. I like to live a big happy lie that everything is perfect and the Ozone layer is in top notch condition!

The brains are there to solve this problem, but in a world totally dominated by money who knows what could happen. BMW, and a few other car companies are moving to hydrogen driven cars already though, so there is still hope for the future.

Damn...I'm still reading. That's some interesting information. Would be smart if they taught this kind of stuff in the second grade, instead of hide it indefinitely.

Well that's 20-30 years away. Hopefully we will see more hybrid cars in the next 10 years and then hydrogen/electric cars

Yup, hopefully there will be more recycling of plastics and all vehicles will be powered by hydrogen/electricity in the next 20 to 30 years.

I get 23 mpg in my SUV and I won't need to drive it more than once a month 10 miles each way to the grocery store to stock up on things.

You guessed correct. I figured it was going to be some bullshit about how we use oil for a lot of things (i.e. plastics, cars, etc) and how it will be run out by some bullshit date. But I will give it a read now. Nonetheless, I have confidence in the human mind.

I don't really worry about our country as I know we will adapt. America is very good at that..

But what will happen to the world economy and other countries that can't afford to make the needed changes? Remember this won't just affect your SUV but it will affect everything from 747 jet airliners , trains and even ocean freighters.

We are in for some very big changes in the next 30 years.
In November, you can vote for America's next president or its first dictator.

                                                I love this bullshit:

                                                http://www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/PageTwo.html

Nuclear fusion is already set to become the next big thing. They already have the knowledge as to how to create enough energy to power to the whole world over 80 times, but unfortunatly they are unable to secure a secure way of doing this for 24 hours a day (instead they can only produce this power for a few seconds [enough power to create a new sun mind you] before the power dies down and they need to reconfig their machinery. It will happen though.

I've already decided to get rid of my Avalanche in a few months and grab a smaller, more econimical car. The Kompressor is looking really good right about now.

Spending $160 per week to drive to school and back is not my idea of fun.

I haven't read the thing but the end of oil will not be the end of humanity.....I'm too stoned to go deep into a discussion but let's
just take fuel for cars......the only reason why we all still drive
with combustion engines is because oil is still making so much
money that they first want to whore out all there is before
changing.....there are dozens of alternatives and most of them
are far better than combustion engines.....this goes not only for
cars but for most machinery that runs on fuel......after all it's not
like they discovered last month that fosile fuel will eventual run
                                                          out.....

Sure, we will eventually deplete the oil supply. But it won't be in our lifetime. There is still plenty of oil in the Middle East, and if for some reason we are denied that oil, we have oil in Alaska, the Gulf of Mexico, and even companies like Transocean Sedco Forex (http://www.deepwater.com/) are developing deep water drilling equipment that is capable of extracting oil in depths in the thousands of feet.

However, it is inevitable that we will one day run out of oil. When the time comes industry will respond with introducing products and ways of development that do not depend on fossil fuels. Several car companies have had cars developed and tested that run on peanut oil, get over 70 mils to the gallon, and have little or no pollution.

In other words, when the time comes for businesses to react to no more oil, they will. The economy isn't going to crash, the world isn't going to end, and the threat of terrorism won't increase anymore than it already has.
