my heart and prayers are with her, bon chance shannon.

"Shannon had an epileptic seizure while cooking and caught fire when her sweater was ignited by the burners on the gas stove. Dave came to her aid when he smelled burning and Shannon didn't respond to his calls."
I can't imagine living in a country that does not have some form of government health insurance.
I wish her well, and will make a contribution.
Yeah for all it's faults.. with emergency surgery like this you're straight in with the best care. 750k for non-elective surgery? jesus christ. I can't imagine that.
I had deep second near 3rd degree burns over 18% of my body so I can certainly relate to what happened to this poor girl. I hope she can make as much a recovery as possible.
Burning like that is definately the worst thing that could ever happen to someone.... She should expect years of suffering from tight skin, etc... let alone the emotional trauma.. hope she's not burned badly in the face (skin melting).... thats the worst.. good thing she's in an induced coma for 60 days...
But medical bills in the US always amaze me... $750,000 !?! Where is that money going exactly? Doctors? Not more than $75,000 for doctors and nurses... High tech Equipment? ARe they using multi-milion $ high tech equipement for her? If thats the case.. that thing must be worth over $50 million dollars to make a patient pay over $500,000 for it.... And doesnt the government help hospital pay for those equipement..?
And what if she cannot pay? Will they stop treathing her? Or make her pay a certain amount each months for the rest of her life!?
WOW
Anyhow... all the luck to Shannon and you with the relief fund

We do, it's called Medicaid, funded by taxpayers. And surely the hospital has already made an application for it on her behalf, and the bill will be paid. If by some (nil) chance she isn't approved for Medicaid, all public hospitals participate in Title XX, which provides federal funds to pay necessary treatment hospital charges. So either way, the taxpayers will pay.
I agree with Tony404 on the insurance issue. If you're a "self employed entrepeneur" and can't afford health insurance, you can't afford to be a "self employed entrepeneur". It's sad to see so many people have bad things happen to them and they aren't prepared.
damn..that's sad. The health insurance in the US needs to change for the better...we have a regular health insurance in The Netherlands (covers hospital/doctor) for less then $30 a month
You never get past a $750k bill..let alone what brought you that bill in the first place
that is so sad, I had a good friend who had seizures but I cant imagine what that would be like. I guess everyone reading this should take a reality check and realize how lucky you are. Tell her to move to Canada they have free health care.
Preexisting conditions, like epilepsy, costs about $300 a month for insurance. The BS part of US health care is, if you have a preexisting condition and drop your coverage for any reason, EVER, then you will NEVER get covered again.

Maybe on a single plan, but on a group rate plan, they have to take everybody and every condition. If you're self-employed, it's easy to get in on a group rate plan through a chamber of commerce or other organization. Or through an employer, of course.
And Canada doesn't have "free" health care/insurance, it's paid for via taxes.
Shannon is the All-American girl. And, her husband is a good guy. They had planned to be in LA for her to do more sex scenes this month--what a shame:-(
I'm convinced that she was a major part of why my "Knee Pad Nymphos, Vol 5" received an AVN Awards Nomination for Best Oral-Themed Feature of 2003--she did one fantastic anal creampie as the opening scene; the girl reaching up my runnings shorts in the center of the box cover is Shannon (see the link to "Filmography" at my NO Pop-ups site), and the photo in the lower LH corner on the back of the box was taken just moments before she took my load in her butt.
When I think of Shannon, I see a genuinely happy and helpful person who loved her job, America, and her hubby---hopefully, she recovers nicely from this sad and tragic happening.
