NASA: 100-foot asteroid to fly by Earth

I am seriously concerned that in future an unexpected asteroid may crush on earth and kill us all.

THAT'S the thing we should be worrying about. Damn terrorists kill 3000 people and all of a sudden the world is in a panic, fuck like 20,000 people get murdered every year in the USA, every death is a tragedy. We need to focus on some sort of defense against asteroids, not a trillion dollar missile defense program to defend against imaginary enemies. One of these things smokes the earth at the right place and we go the way of the dinosaurs.

Well, not always....George Bush thinks about going to Mars before 2030 ( ? )...
But who cares about Mars when it is POSSIBLE that they discover a new asteroid ( as it occasionally happens - they discover something completely new, like the new planet recently ) and it happens that it is going to hit earth in 8 months....
And then we are all fucked...not only the hunders of thousand people that get killed immediately, but also the rest, since that is going to change the climate COMPLETELY...
Certainly, it is highly unlikely that it happens in the next years, or even in this century, but if is happens - we are all fucked.
I've read that there are different solutions possible if there's enough time left....but now that's only theory and I don't think much money is being spent on the necessary research in that field.
But this board is not good for such discussions...people don;t care how this industry will look like in 1 year, so why they should care about mankind
