There is no reason not too with the 2.0 you should be fine but stick with the big names when choosing a drive you don't wanna take the risk of a lesser known company with your data...
i sold several maxtor one touch external hds as a backup solution to my customers (we are also computer dealer), also using them by ourselves. works great. let me know if you're interested, i can order some at our wholesaler and let them send it directly to you. maybe i can give you a good price.

Originally posted by Cassie i swear by lacie but a friend of mine just got a seagate. seagate cant be that bad since they are common internal drives.
i have used my lacie going on 10 years and have never had a problem.
stay away from maxtor. you pay for problems with them.
maxtor works great for us - have you ever looked into your LaCie case what drive there is built in? Cause they don't manufacture the drives by themselves.

i have bought 5 maxtors because they were infinitely cheaper then any other external out there and everyone crapped out on me. you know what it's like to lose gigs of content?
i will never buy another maxtor as long as i live.
seagate i would give a try if my lacie ever crapped out but i have a 100 gig lacie and not one problem in 3 years.

yes, i know - and it was a Western Digital drive. We had also about 10 IBM drives that failed and one Samsung. And as I said, LaCie does not build the harddrives themselves, they just buy them and put them in a nice and stylish case. and then they cost double.
find me one harddrive manufacturer that has never produced a series without any failures. you won't find one. Keeping backups is the only solution to that. Never rely on only one harddisk.
