I would have thought there would be too much trouble with emi raping the system. Though I think it was done in a building once via massive inductors surrounding their powerlines. Still.. any emi produced would fuck things up. -
Yeah I first read about this a year ago. They were testing this in a few parts in the US. There were some technical issues that still had to be worked out and FCC approval. I just found an articel that said the FCC gave approval for BPL a month ago.
It would be great for rual areas who's only option is DirecWay and their $600 down $60 a month service that only gives you 500 Kbps speed.Comment

Bundle all your infrastructure into the 1 thing, makes it easier to go down in 1 hit.
eg. Anyone piping their phone and net through the powerlines stands to lose telephone communication in addition to power when lines get hit by lightning etc.Comment
