Let me preface this wondering why some women stay with men that abuse them?

So I was at the local supermarket using the ATM and outside was this couple, he was being a real asshole to say the least, she was trying to load their car with the groceries and he's sitting on a bench spewing obscenities at her.

I finished my business with the ATM and was about to leave when I see him slug her, and again spew a few more choice words and slug her again. I had to call 911, which I did and stayed on until three of that town's finest showed.

What gets me is how many people looked, stared, watched, and did absolutely nothing.

Is it too hard to pick up a phone and call 911?
