Do you honestly believe that they see it as "making up bits to suit themselves"? They think that what they believe is the actual truth, and that what you believe is bullshit.
I, as an outsider, know it's actually all bullshit. It DOES NOT MATTER which parts are real and which are fake ("are these books the actual ramblings of the original madman who founded this faith or are they the ramblings of other madmen?"), all that matters are the dominant beliefs among those who call themselves muslims.
Do I care if Hakim and Najib follow "true" islam? No - I care if they get in my fucking way or not. If they call themselves muslims but occasionally like to engage in gay anal fistfucking, that does not bother me in the least as long as I don't have to watch.
And yes, they can still be muslims if they engage in gay anal fistfucking. It just makes them muslims whose actions are inconsistent with their beliefs, or who are somewhat uneducated concerning the rules of islam.
The problem with islam is extremist psychopaths like you, who can't seem to grasp the concept of slacking off in religion - the very thing that makes christianity superior to islam.
