what these guys are saying is mostly true, it depends on what your goals are.
with a categorized thumb TGP you use it to FILTER your traffic and drive it into the category archives of your paysites. this increases your ratios.
for example:
let's say you own paysites in various niches.
you setup on your main TGP page maybe just 100 thumbs which autoupdate (you allow autosubmissions) and these update continuously in real time and dump into your category archives.
the surfer clicks on thumbs he likes, he looks at the gallery, and is automatically redirected to the appropriate category archive which features in the top area promo for your specific niche site which corresponds to that category.
lots of way to do this, but that's a basic idea.
