Funny thing: If he would have actually done the crime, the time it takes to handle the case in the US is about the same as the sentence you get here for killing a person, give or take a year or two.

I have a couple of 'bad' friends who do a couple months jailtime every now and then, when they get out they go back to make millions on drugs.

Easy money and they enjoy the calm when they are 'on holiday'.

Wow, that is really ridiculous. I am not the kind of person who pushes for death penalties and the like, but boy would i be pissed if someone killed a loved one of mine and got 8-12 years in jail for it. Perhaps they should calculate the average life expectancy, the persons age, and than hand down a sentence that reflects the amount of life taken away from the dead individual, with a minimum of 8-12 years.

The maximum you can get here short of a life sentence is 20 years, and with good behaviour, you only have to serve 1/3rd of your sentence.

In my opinion, those who pose a real threat to society should never be released

That is really really fucked up, but not suprising. I can't believe they place that kind of value on a persons life.

Don't forget whe have TBS in the netherlands. If a psychiatrist sees you have some disorder you will be locked into a closed staterun mental institution after you've finished jailtime.

And then if you don't 'recover' from your mental disorder -and most don't- you will stay there forever.
