To answer your question "what does Israel want ?" :
Well, simple and clear - to live in peace and security, no more, no less.
Do you hear any other requests being made by Israeli officials ??
Listen to what they're saying : stop the terror so we can sit down and negotiate !!
Is that too much to ask if the other side is really after peace ??
Look at the peace agreements between Israel and Jordan/Egypt.
Israel has given back every single inch of land back to it's rightful owners, all it took was words, no terror !
Again you seem to be missing the facts by saying that all the Palestinians want is an independent state in the 1967 borders.......Israel had already offered that during Oslo but Arafat refused !!
Why you ask ??
Because he wants Israel for himself and he plans on doing that by using terror, mass terror that he hopes will eventually drive the Jews away from the middle-east.
