I'll admit a lot of my trial sign-ups don't rebill .. but I find that, as an affiliate, I can get an idea as to which of my sponsors are offering really great sites based on the trials that do rebill... I've had some sites where very few of the trials rebill.. and then one or two sites where I've only had 1 or 2 trial sign-ups (out of 20-30) not rebill.

Also .. I find I have a very hard time getting sign-ups to sites that don't offer trials.

So I think if you're offering a really solid site your surfers will rebill. If not they won't .. and you'll have a hard time getting any sign-ups at all. As long as you are making a profit on a trial .. I say they're a solid business model.

Yeap definitly time to stop offering trials ... There are auto-downloaders nowdays that stiff the whole site . The users should at LEAST pay 30 bucks for that

Once I tried a new sponsor . I sent like 150 joins in couple days and only 3 recurred . That was SAD !

i bet my rebill #s are way above average

still

those msgs make me angry and really make me think if i shouldn't stop offering trials at all....

if you want to offer trials, make a small site just for trials, so if the surfer is just trying to ripe you off for content he only gets so much.

let the surfer know that this is only trial site and if they sign up they get much more. this should help your bandwidth and content ripe off. and maybe conversions too.

this is a good i dea but personally what i will do on my site is offer the trial membership on exit of the signup page if the guy doesn't sign up for full membership, kind of what join right now is doing

the solution is simple (or not)!
Offer say 10 GB's of movies on the first day, then have a automatic system that gives access to 1-2 GB's more every day the surfer logs in. That way it seems to the surfer that the site is updated everyday. A bit harder for brandnew sites, but sites that already have plenty of content should be able to do it.
Why allow someone to simply use a program to download all the content you have put in the members area over a few years in one go?

i dont like that idea for a simple reason
i want my full members to get exactly what they want on the day they want it

the only way to go is to restrict content access to trial members like socal does

anyone wants to write such a script?

I stopped using sponsors with trials a while ago.

The only trial i would use is something like pornKings porn a 4 buck.
