Are you stressed out often? Do you feel like shit often? Depressed?

Try exercising! They used to prescribe bed rest for those who were stressed or depressed, but nope - not anymore. Exercising of some sort releases endorphins which actually makes you feel better / happier.

I've been an avid weight lifter for a few years now, and I can tell you - the days that I don't lift, I just don't feel as good doing nothing all day.

And when I first started, I found that I was generally more relaxed and happier.

So -- jot this down as just another reason you should get your ass in a gym and start improving your life in all aspects.

Sure you can do anything that raises your heart rate to a significant degree, but resistance training (weight training particularly) will give you the added bonus of a nice muscular physique.

There's a few of us here on GFY who know their stuff, so if you're interested and have any questions regarding nutrition or training - ask and I'm sure you'll get a good response.

I used to be really active, playing hockey, lacrosse etc... and i have definately noticed an increase in anger/aggression since i quite playing.

i need to start again but it's hard to motivate myself to exercise. especially with how dedicated i am to smoking cigs now.

i run about 40 feet and start wheezing.

but yeah, you're right exercise is the best outlet for negative energy.

I bet if you put (pics) in the title you would have gotten alot more interest. sheep don't like informative reading.

well, as with almost anything that you "start" - it's just about getting over that initial hump of reluctance and laziness - you just have to force yourself for a good month or two to visit the gym regularly. and usually once you're able to really notice how it affects you (mentally and physically), it becomes something you look forward to rather than dread.

and having a partner with you always helps at first although you don't really need one.

but when it comes to smoking and such, exercise can really reverse a lot of the negative effects like limited endurance.

Yeah, that's great when there are no weights around! Quite enough to get
the "rush" if it's done with intensity (speed)...
for that relaxed feeling after a while as well.

hah. interesting seeing this thread after having posted my most recent thread.

i plan to work out hard as shit today to get as much benefit as possible from those endorphines. nature's stress reliever.

                                          You know what?

I just decided to bump some month-old thread for the fun of it... and noticed this
one, about something I'm actually quite interested in myself...

And it turns out I'm bumping a thread that's EXACTLY (not counting minutes)
1 month old..! Kinda weird lol

Anyway... I think heavy workouts, with a bit of focus on getting the endorphines
flowing, could be recommended to anyone who's not either crippled or already "on top of the world"-happy.
                                          It really does work great
