The average surfer is getting very savy! although the Free trial still sells a bit better than say 2.95, they are not taking the bait like they once did!

If everyone in the porn industry just started chanrging monthly right away! than we can all make money! and manage CB better!

The transactions game is not helped by free trials, though many programs can profit from using them correctly.

slapass, sorry to burst your bubble but my math was defined on all things being equal, ie the same site with both free and paid trials. And from what I've seen lately and over the years, most of the big programs run about the same retention with free or paid trials, enough that you do actually make it up in volume. And when you factor in the automatic ability of the rebill to be approved from the card association standpoint, you're looking at even better numbers.

The problem with free trials is the chargeback math, let me know if you want to see it.

Sometimes I sit around and wonder how much time alot of resellers spend actually thinking the way program owners do, or even trying to. I know that a huge part of my consulting since I've moved to LA involves getting one side to look at where the other one is coming from when they design marketing or new payouts or even brand new programs.

Luckily I've been on all sides of the fence in this business so I get a better perspective.

What we have here are a bunch of sponsors arguing over the pros and cons of free trials.

Don't you guys see what the problem is? The whole point of my thread is that there are some webmasters who only send to programs that offer free trials.

Now, I'm emailing Clay to get free trial codes for CJ Bucks because I can't get their traffic without it regardless of how well my sites convert.

The whole system if flawed. But hell, if they'll send to me with free trials and take a lower payout I'm done arguing and getting in the game.

I wouldn't dump paid. If I do the no trial game it won't be promoted and the link codes will be hidden. I'll only pull out the linking codes when all else fails trying to get the webmasters traffic. If it is only a small percentage of my joins I'll be fine. Besides, I have real bonifide member's areas as well.

I see many of you asking for free trials this and free trials that. Let me tell you something, if you are asking for their credit card number you still have to have a good product to get the join.

If someone has a paid trial but excellent content they get joins. It's simple as that.

It just blows my mind that so many webmasters only want to send to people that offer free trials.

Quiet wouldn't have gotten anywhere without his trials either.

Invite only on the free trials or are going to get a shot at it?

KimmyKim, I take your word for it. If they have a large enough rebill set up they can do free trials and manage chargebacks. So you would think more comapnies would try and set that up.

Rick, I understand what you are saying. Some webmasters have heard that free trial is the only way to go and they don't want anything else.
I have the same problem getting people to use LightspeedCash. We only offer 60% revshare on all our sites except for our two megasites that we offer $35 per join on. I have had people who would only send to the Pay Per Join sites and would be happy with the $35 per join even after I showed them that if they were on the revshare program they would have made more over the life of their members.
I understand their arguments about processors and companies failing and affiliates losing their revshare money, but if the company and processor are stready and the affiliate is not living paycheck to paycheck then I can't understand why they want to make LESS money. I guess if they want to make less than that is good for us, but it still drives me nuts when large companies want to send to one of our sites and then change their mind when they find out that it is only revshare.
We both lose when they make that decision.
