Euro IPSP's tacking VAT tax on signups...shape of things to come?

There was a thread earlier about sweet18girls.com losing yet another processor.

I went through their join pages to see who they were using now (globalcharge.com) and 'twas the first time I have seen VAT tax, or any tax for that matter, being added on to the price of a join.

The shape of things to come I'll bet!

    Check it out:
"Please note: All prices include VAT at 17.5%"

I find it interesting. And it is being implemented in the UK. On the net.

I was going to give that processor a whirl, but am thinking twice. I don't care about the tax. But as a surfer, that 17.5% kind of sent me for a loop. It is actually only about $4 included in the price of membership. But again, as a surfer, the first thing that popped into my mind was "17%!!!" then, "What the fuck is a VAT tax, and why am I paying this??"
And the back button gets clicked....

I think it's only a matter of time before all EU processors do this, and U.S.A. too.

Once thing I learned running my companies is that the gov't wants a piece of every penny you earn. Now the EU does too. Damn! lol

I thought VAT was only applicable to residents of EU countries?
