Biology Behind Homosexuality In Sheep, Study Confirms

PORTLAND, Ore. ? Researchers in the Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine have confirmed that a male sheep's preference for same-sex partners has biological underpinnings.

A study published in the February issue of the journal Endocrinology demonstrates that not only are certain groups of cells different between genders in a part of the sheep brain controlling sexual behavior, but brain anatomy and hormone production may determine whether adult rams prefer other rams over ewes.

I do believe I posted a bunch of links to scientific research etc to this regard a few weeks ago. It's been a known fact in the world of general biology for a long, long time. Just took a long time to prove it to the happy little namecallers who wanted to think that homosexuality was "unnatural".

this is something i have believed for a long time. About 9 years ago i met and became vey close freinds with a pair of twin brothers. both were, yup gay.

I think it's both. All but one of my girlfriends was bi. Something happened to all of them when they were young sexually. I do know a lesbian that I can tell was born gay. Nothing happened to her when she was young and she grew up with a normal life.

You'll find that the majority of gay people have had something done to them sexually when they were little kids. There are very few what I call "truely gay" people. Just my thoughts.

It's screwed up either way with the Conservatives. They will say that since it's genitics, it is passed from generation to generation and like the one guy said jokenly that it's a defect. If you say it's not genetics, they will say that it's a choice and just in the mind. Either way the conservatives will find a way to say gay is bad.

Part genetics. Some are just a) afraid of pussy, b) too impatient to wait on a girl for sex - gay guys are easier to get sex from, c) confusing being effeminate (sp?) with being gay.

But genetics doesn't explain queer behavior. Plenty of "straight" acting guys out there. Nothing in wanting dick that would make you act and talk queer. Seems to be like advertising to them, tho. "I'm queer, come over here!"

Interesting study, although one clarification maybe that although homosexuality may be determined solely by biology, social structures could be responsible for bi-sexuality. This would explain alot of the bi-females and males. Biologically they are wired one way but their experimentation could be caused by social pressures, or trying new experiences.

A straight guy finds the idea of going gay physically repulsive.
It amazes me that depite this, some still think it's a choice.
Would you choose to do something that makes you want to puke?
Of course there is something different in how a 'gay' mind works.

I recall a study years ago about how they took pregnant female
rats and stressed them out during pregnancy; kept her on a wheel,
kept the lights on, wouldn't let her sleep, etc.
Turns out a much higher % of the offspring were homosexual.

The best way to educate the public on this, and similar,
issues is to explain that :
1) physical gender (whether you have a penis or vagina)
2) psychological gender (whether you feel male or female)
3) sexual attraction (whether you like girls or guys)
are all completely seperate features that develop independently.

if #1 goes wrong, you may be a hermaphrodite.
if #2 goes wrong, you may be a transexual
(regardless of if you get surgery or crossdress or not)
if #3 goes wrong, you may be gay

IMO it's a combo of #2 and #3 going the wrong direction
that accounts for what people call 'flaming' homosexuals.
They are basically just acting like women; but the behaviours
seem exaggerated and bizarre when put in that context.
