    I have them blocked in htaccess for almost a year now.. but my images are still showing up in their little chat rooms.

              could be a couple things:
              - you have them locally cached already
              - you aren't sending a referrer header, and it relies on that (you either deny empty ones, or allow them. smarter to allow them, because some firewall programs and other shit strip it out now and it's retarded)
              php/mysql guru. hosting, coding, all that jazz.
