Wouldnt worry about that more than other things. The amount of technical knowledge necessary to get on IRC, find the channel, and use XDCC bots is considerably more than firing up kazaa. The majority of the downloaders are kids without credit cards who wouldnt be paying anyway.

Worry more about P2P clients...

All of the full episodes for all the big reality sites are available to anyone with basic computer/internet knowledge.

I don't think irc falls under the "basic computer/internet knowledge? category.

If it did, the size of the rooms would be 1000x larger.

That's how I used to get my porn when I was underage. Lots of technical knowledge needed. Never more than a couple hundred people on an IRC network trading videos usually. Compared to millions and millions trading them on Kazaa.

To answer your question though, I don't mind if the content is watermarked with my url. It's free advertising/branding. Maybe some one will download a clip and actually go pay for a membership to get the whole collection.

I never said it did. Notice I prefixed that statement with "worry more about P2P clients", meaning Kazaa, etc. As in, these represent more of a threat than the more complex IRC-based trading channels.

i think its a lot easier getting what you want from irc, xdcc is pretty simple, and on kazaa its impossible to get anything you want anyway

It actually might generate some sales for ya. Someone downloads your stuff and then loves it so much they will want more. In my opinion if the content is EXCELLENT then they will want more, and they will even pay for it

Yeah, some of hte other guys touched on it... there are a lot of content producers who "leak" stuff onto irc, p2p and other file sharing with their watermarks/logos and links.

It's an incredible advertising mechanism if you have a little savvy and can work it.
