    I'm scared of flying...

I've booked a trip to Cuba in Febuary and have made a 200$ deposit, but I am scared of flying....

    what should I do?
I don't want something to happen and I don't want to leave all my loved ones behind because I chose to take a 1 week vacation.

Have a few drinks before you get on the plane, there is so little chance of something happening on a plane it's ridiculous.

You have a better chance of walking down the street and getting hit by a bus then getting killed in a plane crash.

The problem is, I've been flying all my life.
          I never used to care.

I guess Ossama won the psychological war on me and has me worried....

Maybe I should cross the street and kill my Iraqi neighbour. Anybody think that would solve my problem?

bro you shouldnt let that kinda shit get to you, thats what the terrorist wanted, to put fear in our eyes in our own country. we shouldnt have to live in fear on our own land, thats not what america is about. just relax man, flying is fairly safe, and think of it this way, some of those flight attendents are pretty cute

Your odds of being killed are greater when driving in a car than flying in an airplane.

                      very true, with commercial jets.

slightly less safe than driving in general aviation.

                      but still very safe statistically.

single engine aircraft have more accidents per passenger mile but are safer for occupants if they crash than multi-engine aircraft due to lower stall speed (landing speed).

unless a camel jockey is at the controls you can put money on getting to your destination---dune coon in the cockpit and all bets are off.

                        Stats are your friend.

Odds of being killed on a single airline flight: 1 in 7.71 million

I have been flying all my life, too...

Since before 9/11, I fly on average of once every six weeks or so.

The climate onboard has changed dramatically.

I flew in September after not flying for over 13 years. I was scared shitless after all the horror stories from 9/11. However, it was really comfortable and not nearly as stressful as I expected.

My husband and I flew from Nashville to Miami and back with one stop each way. I feared the same as you; I have two children, so if anything had happened to my husband and I during that flight, they would have been left with no parents. However, I decided to bite the bullet and go. It's much more dangerous to drive places than to fly. The statistics are definitely in your favor.

If you don't fly now, you never will. I say go for it. When it's your time, Fate will catch up with you one way or the other. Enjoy life. Don't fear it.

Forget about the terrorists. If you are flying charter from Quebec, like Transat etc... then I would be more worried about the plane itself. We're talking about 20 year old planes and in february there could be a blizzard or something. Even Air Canada has a pretty old fleet.
