?bin Laden is living in South Waziristan in the Baluchistan Mountains of the Baluchistan region.? He also added that ?there is an American presence in the area.?
Admittedly, I?m not an expert in geography, but I started researching this area of Pakistan, and discovered that the total land mass of South Waziristan is 2,470 square miles. To put this figure in perspective, the total area of Rhode Island ? the smallest state in the union ? is 2,000 square miles.
So, according to Lehman, Osama bin Laden is hiding in a sparsely populated region not much bigger than Rhode Island, yet we can?t rein him in. How peculiar. To illustrate how preposterous this notion is, I?d like all of you to perform a little experiment. Get in your car, drive downtown, deliberately get a parking ticket, and then refuse to pay it. Or, better yet, get a speeding ticket. Then see how long it takes your local police department, courthouse, department of motor vehicles, and insurance company to find you --- and harass the hell out of you --- until payment is received. Yet the Pentagon, which spent $358.2 billion in 2003, can?t find bin Laden. Come on! How gullible do they think we are?
