I've got the little Graphire 3. Pretty much rocks. I imagine the Intuous would be better but I had a budget to stick with.
Personally, there's no way I can draw on it and create something. That's sort of what I had in my head when I bought it but alas - if you can't draw something on a piece of paper, you can't do it on a Wacom either.
That said, for photo retouching and highlighting designs it kicks ass. Take your whole PS design, add a layer on top of 50% gray set as overlay, then start dodging and burning that layer with the pressure sensative brush and you'll fall in love real quick.
