I good card, decently priced, would probably be around the range of a geForce FX 5900 (256mb). They run for about $200-$280. The high-end cards are running at over $550 (geForce 6800 Ultra

I also recommend the geForce Ti series cards, they are low priced and powerful.
I would also avoid buying old harddrives, especially if they are Western Digital. You can pick up brand new 160GB Seagate drives for ~$100, so 50GB of drives that will most likely crash and burn (literally) within a couple weeks is no good.
