I never kept more than 2 thousands with PayPal, but when they shut my account down there were only $280. And they send me them, so I lost nothing. Actually they even were that kind to wire me the rest instead of sending a check, because I asked them to do so... I did not like them much, but those scary stories about PayPal are usually overstatements. There is always a way to deal with any people, it's just a matter of one question - "is it worth it?"Comment

I've had my paypal account suspended and reactivated 3 or 4 times now, and that's it for me, they just won't reopen it again, all 'cos of 'adult use' that's buying content, hosting, programming... If you don't run on empty, start now, if they do suspend your account, it's up to 180 days before you get your cash back...

Paypal closed our account over night last year, we had 3k in it. I almost choked.
Now with the new account I clean it out everytime it hits around 100 dollars
Better safe than sorry, it took 6 month for us to get the money last time and than they lost they check. When we contacted them about the lost check we made arragments to send it directly into our account instead sending a check. That took another 2 month.
