                Only thing I know about Kayla is she is not house broken.

                I am all for friends helping out friends, it is what friends do. But to post on a public message board is tasteless. I am sure it is embarasing to Kayla, and CAN appear not to be done for most noble of purposes. ( ie I am a kind giving person, look I am donating $100 to XYZ).

                Sleazy you could have handled this in a different manner, one that was not so public, and you could have had the same benefit without all the drama.

                                                                                    there is no emergency in her situation. personally i don't mind donating for fellow webmasters in need like it was the case for Jamdin and long time ago for Red but launching an SOS for a scratch on someone elses car paint is a little too much. this should have stayed off the board . i understand that kayla is your friend and its normal that you wish to help her on a personal ground but launching a kaylathon for that small accident makes people think you want to show off how generous you can be.

                                                                                                    the car was totaled - the trunk was in the back seat. the car was hit soo hard her shoes came off. If you've EVER had to deal with insurance you'd know that you NEVER get what a car is worth on claim- it's not just the dedcutable they will be out.

                                                                                                    Kayla isn't a major paysite or the like - she works hard and this will be a big blow to her. She's been nice to me and LOTs of other GFYers.

                                                                                                    I help put friends in need - they don't need to be dying for me to help them.

Speaking for myself, I have no idea who all of Kayla's true friends are. Posting it openly on the board at least allows everyone to know about what's going on with her so they can decide for themselves if they want to help or not.

                                                                                                        But I see no reason to hate on it. If someone doesn't want to donate to help someone, why not just move on to the next thread and keep the negative bullshit comments to oneself? It isn't so hard, I do it all the time with topics that don't interest me or concern me.

                                                                                                            I have NO problem with you helping friends out, but doing it on low down would have been much better.

When you start dealing with charity issues, and donating of money it involved human beings. Anytime you are dealing people people you should try to be as sensitive as possible.

                                                                                                                            I was in pain for a week.

                                                                                                                            But I HAD to go to work the next day or else I would have lost my job at the time no questions asked.

                                                                                                                            I was in BAD shape. I could not even walk, it took me 20 minutes to get out of my car.

                                                                                                                            So I know how shit goes... I hope she doesnt have to go through what I did and people are kind to her.

                                                                                                                                    I do know a bit about Kayla's site and financial situation, and this is probably the worst time for this to happen. She is doing good for herself, but recently decided to only work on her site so she took a big drop in income because of it. She's independent, doesn't like to depend on anyone for money and this kind of sucks that when she's doing something good for herself something like this hinders it. I've known her a long time and I know if she didn't need the money, she wouldn't take it. I will be sending her some money I owe her plus some extra to help out. If you don't want to donate, it's no big deal, but don't presume to know how much she does or does not need help.

                                                                                                                                            Kayla just called me from the tow truck. She's hurting pretty bad right now - it sounds like her and David both got banged up pretty badly.
                                                                                                                                            She wanted me to let people know that whatever money is donated will hopefully not have to be used toward the deductible; since it wasn't their fault, hopefully they won't have to pay it. But there are going to be other expenses (rental car, etc.) incurred from this fiasco before everything gets settled. Not to mention it takes time to get anything settled if the court has to be involved! Hopefull there will be no dispute over whose fault it was. That can get ugly fast!
