    There's a serious problem on GFY right now.

    I've always been proud of how GFY stands up for people who need help.

    Posting by VA and some other nameless idiot have made me think that some people are in need of serious medical help.

    what exactly does it take for you to want to help someone assholes?

                          There were always assholes but there are a few bad apples that left a bad taste in everyones mouths about donations recently. One thing about sheep, they can't read between the lines to know who is sincere and who's a panhandling dick. Don't stop doing good for your friends.


                          Also, I think they suffer from sig envy. Blame Lars.

                                                                                          When I first got on GFY someone fairly new here was asking for money for their relative. Several thousands to be exact. A shitload of people helped out without knowing who the fuck he was. That's just one of the many great things about GFY. If you haven't figured this out since 2002 you never will.

It's a nice gesture from a friend and of course friends often help each other out in such situations. But it's a FRIEND thing. Some of you people fail to realize that.

                                                                                              Get on your ICQ, hit up a couple of her friends and round up $1k. It shouldn't be too hard plus it would save her the embarrassment.

Posting it openly on the board at least allows everyone to know about what's going on with her so they can decide for themselves if they want to help or not.

                                                                                                      But I see no reason to hate on it. If someone doesn't want to donate to help someone, why not just move on to the next thread and keep the negative bullshit comments to oneself? It isn't so hard, I do it all the time with topics that don't interest me or concern me.

                                                                                                          If you're known elsewhere, by other people, outside of GFY, then you're not likely to get many as many donations as if you were a respected, liked, known, trusted webmaster in the GFY community.

                                                                                                          Hell, I have a pretty high post count. Close to 12K now. Kayla has close to 2K posts, 10K less than me. Regardless, Kayla would receive a hell of a lot more donations than I ever would.

They suck it up, and make due. They do without and get back on their feet when they can.

There IS a double standard or hypocrisy at play. There are people who bitch about all the donation threads, and then support other donation threads depending on which "GFY Celebrity" is asking or promoting the "Save Karen" of the week. If you want to pretend it doesn't exist, go ahead.

                                                                                                                      Even knowing that most people here wouldn't give you a dime if you weren't popular or female, it still feels good to help someone out if you've got even $5 to spare.

                                                                                                                              I noticed that pr0 hadn't been posting here much over the past year, but when he needed help I sent him some money. Depending on the situation I have even been known to help out people I don't even know. But when someone I know and have had contact and business dealings with is down and out, I try to help. Not only does it feel good and is the right thing to do, but the good karma tends to come back to you down the road.
