Nope... I was busy working on my own projects and actually forgot about this issue. Now I'm glad I checked back. To answer your question regarding my role at Xpics, I was a designer in their special projects group where I basically designed and submitted 5-15 galleries and free sites a day. I'm not at liberty to discuss the details of the operations at Xpics because I honestly don't know what went on at management meetings etc. I can assure you I had absolutely no decision making power in my position there. Either way, that is all beside the point really. I just find it ironic that so many could blindly point the finger at Guerilla Traffic when they obviously made a simple mistake when there are so many other's who are more deserving of such criticism. In the end, the only people who should really be concerned here are the content producers whose property was mistakenly allowed to end up on GT's galleries and I am sure one way or another the folks over at Guerilla Traffic will do everything in their power to make it right. Do you really believe this is a simple mistake? Even if it was unintentional or the work of a rogue designer, it still points out obvious flaws in the way the company is managed and their content is maintained.
They should have someone supervising their designers' work. They should have someone reviewing galleries before they're made public. If their designers feel the need to go elsewhere for content because they don't want to look through the content server, perhaps the content server needs to be better managed?

I can buy the excuse that the designer used stolen pics on galleries. Just to make it easier for him. I can buy that explanation.
BUT, I can not use the same excuse when they were caught using stolen pics on the tour and replaced the tour pics with other stolen pics.
If you were caught using stolen pics on a tour, wouldn't you be 100% sure that you replaced the pics with your own licensed content? Isn't it in the interest of the company to do that? Instead of just leaving the responsibility on the designer, which obviously proved that he was not to trust?Comment

That's great and I don't think anyone questioned the money they have made people. Bells should be ringing though in the case that I know you use sponsor content on your pages and if they have content that they did not licence, then perhaps you now have some of that content and are now in violation. You can also think a step further and wonder what else they perhaps are currently doing or have done in the past that could affect you promoting them? Just expressing general thoughts that any company or individual should think of when a single factor like this comes forward. It pretty much was the fact of replacing the found stolen images, with more stolen images, that causes some negative feelings towards PornProfit/GuerillaTraffic and their business ethics.Originally posted by xxxjay

I think the most important things to note about this the following:
1) They have not gone away they are not hideing they are dealing with this as quickly as possible.
2) They are willing to talk with and try to find a solution with any and all content producers who come forward.
3) The content in question is nothing special. You can buy it or stuff like it for a dime a dozen. From a business stand point it doesn't make sence becasue they now will have to compensate those content producers more than they would have if they just bought it in the first place.
4) The people who have the most to say about this are webmasters not the content producers.
5) Sherie's explination of a person working for them doing this while somewhat off the wall is possible. (I have nightmares about this kind of thing happening)
6) The (as a paysite network) job of matching all the live content you have everywhere (members area, POD, hosted gallerys, hosted freesites etc...) with there licences after the fact is HUGE and takes alot of time. While the average webmaster may only have a few thousand or tens of thousands of images under there licences. Some paysite networks have hundreds of thousands or millions of images that they have licences on and or that they have live at any given time.
7) It is not reasonable for Guerilla Traffic to shut everything down while they deal with this. There are people who are advertising them and it would be terrable if they had to shut down everything while they checked all the content. So they are dealing with it in the most reasonable way I can think of. Business as usual and trying to deal with each new problem as it happens.
I don't think this will affect me personally in terms of my use/trust of them at all. If they went into hideing that would be a different story.- Danny

I have not looked at all of the pictures so I don't know for sure if some are special or not. It was ment more as a blanket statement for adult content. While some images and video are very very special and can make millions just becasue of what it is the paris hilton video is a good example. Most adult content isn't. With as many people in the adult business today producing content as there prices have gone way down. At this point in time with the cost of content it isn't worth the possible legal and PR problems of using unlicenced can and will cause.
So to make the statement crystal clear let me reword it.
3) Adult content is inexpensive to buy. From a business stand point it makes no sence not to buy it. It WILL cost you ALOT more in the long term than buying that licence in the first place would.
That is why for the moment I still think and hope that the statements made by the people over at Guerilla Traffic are true. Becasue if they arn't true then I have to reconsider my opinon of them becasue this whole thing is just bad business practices.
I am not here to say OPPS for them or to cover this stuff up. I hope that the content producers who have been wronged get what they deserve. Personally I was a little worried when I first saw this topic as the night before I had given them a link to our content plugin to evaluate. How they deal with this problem and the content companies that have been wronged will show alot of what type of business they run. I will save my name calling (good or bad) until that time. I hope that this was all a big opps on there part. I hope that this never happens again and that they will put things in place to protect agains't it from ever happening again. I am just trying to look at the subject from an outside point of view and present my thoughts about it calmly rather than flying off the handle and yelling "EVERYONE TAKE THERE LINKS DOWN!!" like some people do.
