The book ends like this:
Jack was preoccupied trying to kill his wife and son and 'fit in' with all the ghosts of the Overlook. In his preoccupance, he forgot to do his daily checks of the boiler room (where the hotel got it's heat from) The pressure exceeded the normal requirements and the boiler blew up with Jack still inside the resort. Wendy and Danny escaped, as they had made it outside.
Theres a lot more 'details' but thats the jizzt of the ending.
