There is not a rule, just make your tests and check what is the best for you

There should be a standard thumb size to make submitters life easier. My favorite is 88x88

For galleries I like 128x128 .. for TGPs either 88x88 or 90x120.

88x88 is very popular........tgp submitting software like Chameleon asks for an 88x88 thumb by default.

edit.....someone else's post threw me off.....

whatever thumb size you decide to use make sure you create the thumbs yourself and crop in tight on the action or just off the action to make the surfer click more.
