On the 300D there's a button to switch between single frame per button press, multiple frame per button press, and timer/remote. Hopefully it's the same on the 10D.
(Don't you have a manual?) -

On my film body it's a 3 way switch but it's still the same principle - set it to timer/remote, press the shutter button, run.Comment

I never needed to use the timer in the past, that's why I had trouble figuring it out.

Most electric products I own, I download the pdf manual where I can hit the find button for specific help in a few seconds. Google can also be another time saver for me
