    Internet programs hanging (winsock)

I have no idea why this is occuring.. to connect to the internet, i have to connect thru putty (an ssh client) as im at the university.

for some reason, all my programs hang for a long time if they need the internet.. bittorrent for example would normally be at ~100kbs, but it would fluctuate all over the place (0 for 15 seconds, jump to 100 for 15, 0 for another 15 etc) and when its at 0, the app hangs and i cant interact with it at all. this happens with EVERY program that needs the internet, be it IE or firefox or msn or bittorrent. If its a program that makes a ton of connections (like shareaza) the program is basically unusable because it just hangs for dozens of minutes

is there any registry tweak that can fix this? its like the app is waiting for something from winsock before it resumes and unhangs

Not sure about your internet problem, but what type of traffic are you sending AAC to see those conversions?? Signing up under you.
