American Election System

I just finished reading another article about the american election system and I have 3 comments:

1)

3) May god be with us

I feel like the afghan system is much more advanced and way more secure. anyone remember the comments Castro made about the US after the 2000 election. The words "banana" and "republic" come to my mind.

HOWEVER the US system is as unsecure because nobody has any control over votes that have been casted already.

I am talking about the democractic process in general. It is spouted around the world as being the be all and end all of freedom. It is a corrupt system, that whilst better than dictatorship, is so brutally flawed and corrupt it isn't funny. And in event, I always here US citizens, the US Government, the US media, etc spouting off how free and democratic your nation is.

I watched a program by the BBC last night which showed what a mess the voting proceedure is in the states.

It pointed out that voting by an electronic device in a polling station was a vot that was almost impossible to check on a recount. Cards are rejected if the puch hole is not smack in the centre etc etc.

Why not use the method which has worked for CENTURIES in the UK? A card with all the candidates, with a little box next to their name wich you put a cross. Simple. The card is them placed in a secure box, under guard by a policeman. At 10 pm, when voting finishes, all the cards are checked and the winner is the one with the most votes!

So easy and FOOLPROOF.

dude, any election that comes down to such a close margin is going to have controversy and accusations, whether it is for the most powerful position in the free world, or president of the senior class at some high school.

I wanted Gore to win (well, not really, but I wanted him to win more than I wanted Bush to win), however it came down to the wire. My guy lost. Move on. It is not some fucking conspiracy that Bush won. Why is it that the crackers could figure out the ballot, but darkie couldn't? Lots of accusations were thrown. Apparently the Supreme Court (whom I trust to be as fucking smart as I know they are) felt differently.

First, nothing personal, but fuck your BBC report. BBC airs programming that always is going into it with a slant against the US.

Secondly, to answer your question about why we don't put an X in a box like you do . . . and I can't believe I have to point out the obvious:

Population Estimates UK population rises to 59.6 million in 2003. . . . .and how many candidates? How many Propositions do you vote on? Judges? Senators? Reps? Local reps? State, County, City and District meansures do you have to vote on in every election?

We have a shit load more voters here, we try to evolve. There are ways to do jobs easier, and quicker.

The issue about the hole puch down the center must be some local jurisdiction, as we have been doing punch as ling as I have been voting I think (33 years), and it would be pretty difficult to not punch in the center. YOu would have to load the ballot incorrectly into its holder to mess it up.

Norway is said to have the highest standard of living in the world, and although they are now polluting that once beautiful culture and nation with Islam, etc, it still remains for the most part homogenous. Furthermore, Japan and Iceland possibly the most (if not the most) homogenous nations in the world are also amoung the most highly advanced.

Having Mexican and gangster 'culture' (which has no origins as a real culture apart from inside your television box) invade your country is nothing to be proud of, and it SURE as hell doesn't form part of the requirement of a great nation.
