I know that he can do this online. A girl I know was finishing her high school diploma online but we don't talk anymore...so I can't find out where she did it at. But it's definitely a HSD and not a GED.
So, it may not take him too long to get the credits that he needs...otherwise I'd say go take the GED test and wait til he's 19 and just take some time off so he can start learning how to be an adult, and a productive part of society.
