I have erected a 100' communications tower at my house to get a link from my office about 10 miles away. The product purchased is good for up to 20 miles but we are having trouble getting a link. We will be installing higher gain antennas on Friday which should help things but I wanted to see if anyone here has done this and has experience they can share.
Here are the links to the products used. I have 2 of each item to complete the bridge setup.

Wow, that's nuts!!! Don't tell me your going to go through all that and hook it up to a T1. What kind of connnection are you going to set that up with? Which carrier are you planning to use? Your spending way too much to get good internet speeds.

RAD's AirMux-200 enables you to connect two sites?at distances up to 50 miles/80 Km?with broadband wireless Ethernet and T1/E1 circuits all for under $3,000 a link. The AirMux-200 offers up to 48 Mbps of radio bandwidth with full duplex throughput of up to 18 Mbps. This means you can transport 1 or 2 T1/E1 voice circuits and have ample bandwidth remaining for 10/100Base-T Ethernet traffic. When combined with RAD?s IPmux solutions, the AirMux-200 can scale to support 8 T1/E1 circuits plus Ethernet.

I mean if austin powers can have sharks with lasers why cant you have a tower with a "Laser" ?

802.11b (or g) is "difficult" to get to work reliably over 20 mile links, but definitely possible.
The antenna's youre using now are NOT going to work. Period. You need directional antenna's, which are going to be a bitch to aim since you only have a couple degrees at most with which to match them up.
I work with a WISP up here, who has a couple ~20mile 802.11b links which work reliably, although you will see rain fade here and there. Also, the netgear stuff is really not the best thing to be doing a project like this with, but may work. Running a soekris (or something like it) PC w/ some high powered PC card wireless adapters are usually the way you go here, since then you get full TX strength.
I also assume you are above the tree line, and have done topographic mapping to ensure that nothing between the two sites (including trees) are not breaking Line of Site?
If you've already spent $20k on this, I don't know why you're even messing with 802.11b. For that price, you could have gotten the towers, some nice 45mbit liscensed spectrum equipment off ebay (cheap cheap these days) and paid the FCC license fee. However, getting the towers installed I suppose can run more than a little bit.
Put this on top of it and you will get your 20k back in no time
Aim it towads Osama and mabye just mabye , You could win the election at the same time which I believe pays out like 80k so you would be up 20k Plus be president of our country... and I think we could get you high speed at your house at that time ...
Just a thought !
