The 16-year-old girl was suspended from school Thursday and taken into custody after allegedly showing classmates a tape of herself and what appeared to be two other girls and a boy engaged in consensual sex acts, police said.
Fort Worth Police Sgt. Dave Stamp said the tape lasted several minutes. Police believed it was made inside the girl's home.
"Our job is to identify the other people on the tape and their ages and meet with the district attorney's office to determine if other charges are applicable," Stamp said in Saturday's editions of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
During questioning the girl told police that the other two girls on the tape are 10th graders at another high school, according to a police report.
The girl faces charges of delinquent conduct/sale, distribution or display of harmful materials to a minor.
She was released from juvenile detention into the custody of her mother
The girl's mother, who watched the tape after being contacted by school officials, identified the boy as her nephew, according to the police report. Police said the tape did not show sexual contact between the girl and her cousin.
A student who had seen part of the tape told a teacher. The girl was removed from class and told to empty her backpack, which officials said contained a video player and a broken tape. The girl told police that the tape contained only pictures of getting her hair braided, the report stated.
When the tape was repaired by a media teacher school officials confirmed that it contained pornographic material, the report stated.
The girl, who was serving in-house suspension before the tape was discovered, showed the tape to other students serving in-house suspension in at least two periods, students told officials .
One student said the girl asked friends if they wanted to be on the video, the report stated.
